Several common issues often arise when operating an industrial production parts washer. Difficulties starting the machine, unsatisfactory cleaning and parts not drying sufficiently are the main resulting deficiencies that usually can be attributed to a contributing factor. These issues can usually be remedied if the manufacturer is able to discover the root cause of the issue.
If the machine is having trouble starting or is otherwise incapable of running, it does not necessarily indicate a major problem. Rather, it may simply be an issue with the electrical controls. The first step necessary to get the machine running is to check all the emergency stop buttons on the machine and make sure they have not been pushed in to activate them accidentally. The operator must ensure that they are in the "out-or-run position.
If this proves not to be the issue, check the voltage and amperage on the control panel. Make sure that the machine is receiving an adequate amount of energy and that the control panel lights come on when the master knife switch is in the "On" position. From there, be sure to press the green "Master Start" button that is on the control panel, usually at the top left side of the panel, and then check the PLC screen or lighted push buttons to confirm that the machine is in "Auto" mode, rather than "Manual" mode. Finally, look at the red, amber, and green warning light tree located on the top of the control panel. If the red or amber lights are on, a fault or component trouble may be the cause of the stoppage. See your control panel PLC screen or lighted push buttons for red or fault indications for the individual systems of the machine.
If the machine stoppage is due to a purchased component problem such as a blower motor, pump motor, drive motor or heating element, there are a few steps that can be taken. First, make sure the machine is off. Then check the failing component to see if it is physically jammed or otherwise stuck. If it appears to be acceptable, check the electrical box of the component and see if the conduit or wires leading to the box are damaged or have been pulled out. If the component has an inlet filter as is the case with a blower, then remove that filter and check to see if it is being clogged by excessive debris. Finally, check the service life of the component and compare that to how long the component has been in use. It may simply be nearing the end of the lifespan.
Occasionally the washer will stop producing clean parts. Whenever this happens, it is time to check the condition of the bath. If the bath is saturated with soil, then change the solution making up the bath, along with the filters cleaning the solution. After the solution is removed, then use a heated, high pressure power sprayer to clean the tank. This preventative maintenance should be performed regularly in order to prevent cleaning failures. If the bath is of acceptable quality, move on to other possible causes. Make sure that the bath soap concentration is correct and that the proper cleaning chemistry has been mixed into the bath.
Next, inspect the spray headers, making sure that the cleaning solution is coming out of the nozzles in the correct spray pattern. If the nozzles are plugged or just dirty, clean or change the affected nozzles. Also look to ensure that the spray headers are in the proper position, and they have not been broken or bent by an improperly loaded part.
Finally, check the pumps to be sure that they are pumping at the proper pressures. The correct pressure is indicated by the flow gauges on the filtration system, or in the control panel depending on the configuration of the machine.
The drying stage of the washing process is another area where problems occur. To troubleshoot your dryer, first turn off the machine. If the machine includes a blow off system, then check the air blower and make certain that they are operating at the proper pressure. The digital gauges for positive back pressure indicate the correct pressure for this stage. Then move on to check the hoses which lead from the blower(s) to the air knives or air nozzles. Make sure that they are not broken, split, or obstructed in any manner.
To check these nozzles or knives you will have to remove the filter covers as the hosing is inside the machine and connected directly to the blowers. If the machine has a dryer system rather than blow off, check the squirrel cage blower and make sure that it is running. Also inspect the cage blower to see if the fins are obstructed. Then check the opening from the fan box to the drying stage and ensure that is not obstructed, allowing for hot air to the be re-circulated to the parts.
After performing these checks, if the problem is not solved or a specific problem is identified but requires assistance, you will need to contact the service department of the vendor who provided the washer. They will provide a crew to perform the necessary maintenance work and get your washer back up and running to the standards expected.

Neff Integrated Laundry
One of the important things when choosing a laundry appliance is that you feel comfortable with its ability to get on with the job of washing and drying your clothes whilst you are able to set your minds to other tasks. The last thing you want is a flood and an underwater kitchen, so make sure that you buy your laundry appliance from a name that you can trust, whoever that may be. If it is particularly a Neff washer or dryer that you are after there are two combined washing machines and one washer dryer available in the Neff integrated laundry selection at the time of writing this article.
Another important thing to consider is the efficiency of the laundry appliance that you are going to purchase- modern washing machines use less water, electricity and detergent than older and the washer dryers are more energy efficient than they used to be, whilst still being gentle on the clothes.
But one of the most important things to a lot of people is how the appliance will look when it has been installed into their kitchen. The reason why so may people are going for integrated appliances these days is because they prefer the look of the particular cupboards and furniture doors that they have chosen compared to seeing the actual appliance. And although modern appliances are far less bulky than they used to be, a Neff integrated laundry appliance slots neatly in between two kitchen units and allows for a furniture door to be fitted to the front of the machine so that it blends in with the surroundings of the kitchen rather than being on display.
Neff integrated laundry appliances can have the furniture door hinged from the left or the right of the machine, but the porthole door on the washing machine or washer dryer can not be changed, so it may be less confusing to have the furniture door hinged in the same direction as the porthole door. A plinth is then fitted along te bottom to allow access to the pump and the vent. This can be easily removed or cut out at any time if required.
All of the Neff integrated laundry appliances are automatic and the washing machines come with an extra feature called the CircoCare drum system. This system is designed to be an improvement on the internal drum and paddles, the new drum structure featuring raised droplets across the surface to ensure that the laundry is given a more powerful, yet gentle wash.
The drum structure works together with the new paddle design that have been updated to provide better movement of water, by creating two different edges- one steep and one shallow. The steep edge creates a stronger force, which is designed to make the wash better and the shallow edge is gentler. When combined, the steep and shallow edges work together to create optimum water movement for better washes.
Neff integrated laundry provides a range of programmes and features and the washing machines have a 7kg capacity whereas the combined washer dryers have a 5kg capacity.

Your Laundry And Energy Consumption
The washer and dryer are probably two of the most commonly forgotten appliances in the house, but their energy consumption is considerable. You may have no idea about it, but you can reduce your energy bills simply by changing a way of doing your laundry. I promise, it will be painless and easy to do.
First of all, remember that nine tenths of the energy used by a washer comes from the heating of the water. Try to reduce the temperature of your water and use cold water whenever possible. This will get rid of most of your washer energy consumption while not reducing the quality of laundry and your comfort level. Yes, things will still come clean.
As for the dryer: first of all, keep its vents clean. If they get clogged, they will reduce the dryer's efficiency. Always clean the lint trap before loading the dryer and check the vent if you think drying goes slower or less efficiently than usual. However, the best solution is usually just to skip the dryer, if you can. First, it saves a lot of power. Then, it adds a fresh smell to your clothing if you dry them on a clothesline instead of inside your dryer. At the very least you can just partially dry your garments in the dryer and then hang them up to dry the rest of the way.
Generally, if you laundry appliances days are numbered and you have older models, think about buying new ones. First, newer models tend to be much more efficient. This is especially true for dryers - new models are now commonly equipped with moisture sensors which allow your dryer to stop working as soon as your clothes are clean. While the purchase may be a little painful for your budget, the savings will quickly become visible and the appliances will pay itself off in a few years' time at most.
A tip: try to avoid cleaning towels after you use them only once. A towel, if you hang it up and let it dry, can be safely re-used a few times before it gets dirty. This change may seem very simple, but it may reduce the time and energy you use for laundering your stuff by as much as 20% a month.
Many washers and dryers now are equipped with timers that allow you to start them at a specific time. Set them to run at night when electric costs are lower. If you do not have a timer on your washer or dryer, than just do your laundry later in the day. Just switching your laundry usage to evening hours can reduce energy costs by another 10%. It all adds up!

Retire Into the Self Laundry Business
More folks are retiring earlier for a variety of reasons, either by choice or motivated by the ever-more-common "Golden Handshake" retirement incentives. Because of their relative youth they end up stuck in the middle; too young to stop working completely, but advanced enough in age to not be looking for another serious career.
If this sounds like you, think about putting your "nest egg" up to start a coin operated laundry. This can be a very profitable opportunity to explore for a person who wants to stay somewhat retired. No attendants are present in the majority of self-service laundry facilities. Because they need no inventory or receivables, laundries are a perfect small business.
As of the 2000 US census, about 86 million people were renters. That’s almost a third of the population. Many have laundry facilities which are either inadequate or non-existent. Even homeowners sometimes don't have washing or drying facilities of their own, requiring the use of a self service laundry. When the overall economy is down, more homeowners will find themselves unable to fix or replace broken appliances. But you can't cut corners on clean clothes, much like food or a roof over your head. Potential customers for your business include all of those who don't own their own washer and dryer.
Your main sources of income will be from washing and drying. Laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets can be sold in the facility offering you additional ways to earn income. A steady cash flow occurs when you install vending machines for sodas, chips, and other snacks.
Choosing a proper location is just one of many points to think about when planning a new coin operated laundry business. The ideal place to locate a laundry business is in a densely populated, urban area where a high percentage of those living in the area rent their housing.
Both the brand name and reliability of the appliances should be taken into account. Big name companies like Whirlpool and Maytag can provide you with energy-efficient commercial-grade machines certified with the Energy Star rating. This keeps more money in your pocket and even helps the environment.
You must make a vital choice, whether to buy your own equipment and be stuck with the usual maintenance issues or contact a company that will do the upkeep for you. The advantage of contracting with an existing company to supply your appliances is simple; they ensure your main sources of income are always working at their best under the strain of a busy self service laundry.
Correct maintenance techniques include regularly cleaning dryer vents and exhaust hoses to keep them working at top efficiency. Staying on top of maintenance keeps your machines running at full power and extends their life span, maximizing your revenue.
If you decide to use a laundry service company, make sure their equipment uses revenue-saving loss prevention features like non-resetable coin counters. Your contracted company should be ready to provide service calls at a moment's notice. A company with good credentials should be able to give you plenty of evidence from other satisfied customers to confirm their reputation.
Whichever method you choose to own and maintain the equipment, the self service coin operated laundry business can be the part time job and full time income you need for the retirement you deserve.

Laundry Tips for Your Apartment Laundry Center
Community laundry is such a joy.
Really though, having laundry centers in your apartment community is a huge, HUGE bonus over having to go to the laundromat next to the stop and go. Although some communities actually offer laundry hookups and even washers and dryers in their actual units, most other communities offer on-site laundry centers.
There are a few really great benefits to having a community laundry center. Check it out:
1) Money Saving- Running the washer and dryer at home is convenient, but it eats up electricity and if you are constantly washing loads, you will run up your bill quite quickly. Not only that, but if you have the connections, but don't have a washer and dryer yet, they can be quite expensive and a pain to lug up to a second or third floor apartment.
2) Noise Prevention-Then there is always the unbalanced dryer that bangs around and can cause all kinds of disturbing noise through out your building. Do you really want to be the cause of all that noise?
3) Meet People- Honestly, if you are an outgoing person...its a good place to meet your neighbors and make friends in the community.
4) Time Saver- If you can get into the laundry center when noone else is in there, you can start a few loads at once and save time by washing several loads at one time!
5) Maintenance-- If a washer or dryer breaks, it's not your responsibility to get it taken care of.
So keep things clean and don't be afraid to use your community laundry center. Make sure to bring a book, laptop, or good conversation topic while you wait. AND REMEMBER YOUR QUARTERS!
I think it's time for me to wash and dry!

Organizing a Small Laundry Room
Today when space is at a premium, the area available for your laundry may be very limited. By using clever space saving techniques and multi-purpose utility products you can organize your laundry room to look clutter-free and impressive.
Getting wall-cabinets to efficiently use the space available is a clever idea since it will not take up any of your floor space. You can store all of your cleaning material like soap, bleach, softener and stain removers in it and they'll be within easy reach, yet conveniently out of the way.
Putting up a few hooks in or below the cabinets will help create more space for storing things that can be hung. This way they will not take up shelf space. If you think wall cabinets are too expensive, wall shelves are also an attractive, yet affordable, alternative.
Use boxes to keep your shelves organized and clean. Remember to clear away empty bottles and products that have gone unused and have been sitting on the shelves too long. That way you free up more space and reduce the clutter.
It is also a good idea to organize your dirty clothes by using a laundry sorter, that way your clothes will already be in their proper place when you need to do them. You won't have to waste extra time sorting them yourself. You'll find it will save you time on your laundry day and keep all the dirty clothes neatly into sets that can go straight into the washer.
An iron is also a necessity. But you may not be lucky enough to have space for an ironing board. Using a collapsible, foldable ironing board can help save space. There are units available where the ironing board folds into a box or a drawer. Or consider a wall-mounted unit which will save you additional floor space.
Also, remember that the ironing board could be used for folding clothes once they are washed and dried. Foldable table tops are available which can be used for your folding and ironing purposes. In which case, it will fold up against the wall when not in use.
The space above the washer and dryer can be used to access a rod that maintains hung-clothing once it comes out of the dryer. It will provide you with a simple yet effective way to keep your clothing wrinkle-free. It could also be useful for clothes that can't go in the dryer and need to drip-dry.
Or if you have enough space you could use a clothes rack by the dryer as an alternative.
A small, compact dustbin near the dyer will be useful to collect the used dryer sheets and lint. A plastic container could be kept handy to store away any bills, coins, keys, paper and other items that get left behind in pockets.
And last but not the least, remember to keep your floor clean and make sure you have enough light so the room always looks warm and welcoming when you walk in.

How To Get The Most Use Out Of Your Laundry Washer
It is important that you keep your laundry washer working efficiently for as long as possible. Consider the following laundry tips in order to get the most life from your laundry washer.
The first important step is to make sure you make a habit of always checking the pockets of your clothing before placing them in the machine. Make sure there are no small items such as paper clips or loose change. If these small items go through the washer they can do serious damage to the drum of the washing machine.
It is even worse to leave a pen in your clothes and have it go through the washer. Removing the resulting ink stains can be a tedious task that can take all day. Also Kleenex shouldn’t be allowed to go through the washer since they will break into small bits and sometimes even require you to put the clothing back through the laundry washer again.
The second tip is to avoid overloading your washer. When your washer is overloaded it will be rougher on the clothes and it will also place unnecessary strain on the washer drum. If you have a place with hard water then you should use water softener in order to limit the amount of lime scale deposit that builds up on your washer.
If you use your laundry washer to die material then you want to wipe it out thoroughly after you are finished. Make sure to wipe the seal around the door. Otherwise the die could spoil your next laundry load. A sufficient cleaning option is to do a quick empty wash to get rid of all unwanted die before your next wash. Just make sure you never have anything with salt in the laundry washer since this will increase the rate of corrosion in your laundry washer.
While you may want to add extra detergent to make your clothes cleaner you should avoid doing this. By using a quality detergent you will only need to use the recommended amount and won’t have to add any more to get your clothes clean. If you use too much detergent then marks will be left on your clothing which requires you to do an additional wash to get rid of the marks. As a result you will be adding extra wear and tear on your laundry washer that will decrease the life span of the machine.
By following these tips you can help increase the life span of your laundry washer. This way you can get the most use from your laundry washer and not have to pay out for a new washer before you absolutely need it. So use these tips the next time you do a load of laundry.

Home Appliances by Model
Many home appliances are modeled to work with gas or electrical power sources, but other considerations are necessary to discover the home appliances by model that is best for a certain lifestyle. Major home appliances are an expensive purchase item for most families and there are many areas of the home that require certain rhythms to be available, which could change dramatically if the wrong model is chosen. Families will pour over the models offered in a retail outlet and after a few hours, the group will be no closer to making a decision on an appliance than they were when they walked into the store.
To learn about the latest models on a big variety of home appliances, a homeowner might have to visit several stores. A large preview of home appliances by model can be viewed at home improvement stores. Due to the warehouse setting, there is likely to be more floor space available to place several models of one brand next to each other in a row. These home appliances are usually arranged in rows by brand and each brand will provide consumers with appliances that have different features. Each additional feature provided on a major appliance will have a dramatic effect on the priced paid at the register.
Apartment dwellers will shop for home appliances by model and size. Some apartments provide closets for washers and dryers. These small spaces will require home appliances that are a certain height, width, and length. The apartment resident might consider top loading washers due to space limitations, or select the models that are stacked, with the dryer on top. A front loading dryer would work out well in these small spaces, but the apartment dweller will also look at home appliances that feature dryer doors that open to the left or the right, depending on where the dryer vents are located, and where the water supply for the washer is located.
Shoppers will consider home appliances by model when there are discounts offered on certain brands. A ten percent discount could reduce the cost of a washer to that price on a lesser quality appliance made by the same manufacturer. The opportunity to save money continues when manufacturers give additional discounts if the shopper purchases a washer and dryer pair. Shoppers will often search for store discounts that will make some home appliances a better bargain. It is common practice for home improvement stores to offer generous amounts on gift cards if the shopper selects home appliances by model, and a certain pricing range.
Some homeowners will buy home appliances by model and by brand. In an effort to make all home appliances match, a homeowner will choose to buy the same brand year after year on any home appliance that stops working. Other homeowners will buy a particular brand based on which company is responsible for any repairs during the first year. Customers have the option of buy home appliances by model based on the warranties that are available on certain brands. Many homeowners believe that home appliances are an intricate factor in daily living and will purchase an extended warranty on the home appliance at the time of purchase.

RV Equipment And Accessories That Make The Trip More Fun
Jim Johnson asked:
There is an awful lot of rv equipment and accessories to choose from, ranging from the ridiculously simple and cheap to the very expensive. Since the rv lifestyle is so unique and the tasks are so specialized, there are many products that have been produced and sold specifically for rv owners and users. And some of those products are more useful and necessary than others, so here is a short list of rv accesories that any motorhome owner should seriously consider if they want to make the trip more fun:
* RV washer and dryer combos: It may sound odd to consider that a washer and dryer can make the trip more fun, but most people don't consider spending hours in a laundromat an exciting time, and that is what having a built-in rv washer and dryer can help you avoid. Of course, clothes get dirty when you travel on the road just as they do anywhere else, so eventually you will be forced to wash and dry them at some point. Today, there are several space saving washer/dryers combos that can fit easily into many motorhomes and solve this age old problem for RVers.
* A satellite dish hookup for TV programming anywhere. Before satellite TV services came along and made TV programming available pretty much anywhere you want to go throughout the entire country, including rural areas, RVers had to rely on park hookups to provide their TV entertainment. But today, satellite TV has made it as easy as just cranking up the satellite dish when you park and aiming it at the part of the sky where the reception is best. And the programming choices certainly rival, and in some cases even exceed those of cable TV.
* Satellite internet. If you like to keep up with your email while traveling or just surf the web while on the road, you can do that easily these days by expanding your satellite service to include the internet as well. It's not the cheapest alternative, but for those that can afford it, it means that you will always have the World Wide Web available to you pretty much anywhere you go.
* GPS navigation systems. Who has fun when they are lost? Not many folks for sure. And modern GPS units can pinpoint your precise location and show you how to get where you need to go at those times when you are turned around and just can't seem to find your way. Many units are handheld and can cost only around a couple hundred dollars making them an excellent choice for those that tend to get lost a lot.
RVing should be fun and rv accesories that help you have more fun while on the road should be considered a good investment as they will make life on the road so much more enjoyable.

Energy Efficient Laundry Practices
Saving energy and lowering the electric bill is on almost everyone's mind. There are lots of places to reduce our energy consumption, like heating and cooling. However, you can also save power by changing the way you do your laundry. The washer and dryer are the household's most forgotten major appliances, but they use a lot of power every week. Here are some things you can do to save energy while cleaning your clothes.
Wash your clothes in cold water whenever possible. Almost 90% of the energy used by your washing machine goes to heating the water. Washing your clothes in cold water will make your electric bill drop, as well as keeping clothes from shrinking and colors from running.
Turn the water heater down. Many water heaters are set higher than necessary. Turn the dial on yours down to one hundred twenty degrees, or Normal, and save money. In addition, the risk of getting a serious burn from overly hot water is reduced. This can be a safety concern for homes with children, in addition to the increased energy use.
Keep the vents clean. If your outside dryer vent and lint trap become clogged, the dryer will operate much less efficiently. You might even have to run a load twice to get it all the way dry. Make sure to clean the lint trap before every load, and check your dryer vent if things seem less efficient than normal.
If your washer and dryer are old, consider replacing them with newer models. New dryers with moisture sensors stop running once a load is dry, and front loading washers use much less power, water, and soap to clean clothes. The money and energy you save will be well worth the expense of new appliances as the savings accrue over time.
If you can, skip the dryer. A clothesline is easy to set up, and gives your clothes a real, fresh smell that dryer sheets and scented detergents can't duplicate. It also saves power. In nice weather, put your clothes on the line and leave the dryer for rainy days. For apartments with no place to install a clothesline, wooden or metal drying racks can fill the same niche. These foldable racks allow you to air dry your clothes, and collapse for easy storage.
Don't wash towels after only one use. If each family member has his or her own towel, hang them up to dry and use them for a few days before laundering them. A single use won't dirty most towels, and you'll do a lot less laundry every week. That saves you time and money.

New Appliances Make Laundry Day Easier
Now, some innovations in laundry are changing the way people look at these appliances. New lines of front-loading washers and dryers save time, save wear and tear on clothes, and help save the environment.
According to Best Buy, over the past year, sales of front-loading washers and dryers have surged to make up 15 percent of all laundry sales. That makes front-loading washers and dryers the fastest growing category of appliances in the country.
"People don't often think about getting a new washer or dryer until their old one breaks, but when our customers learn about all the benefits of these new units, many of them are choosing to make an immediate change," said Lisa Smith, business general manager of appliances for Best Buy.
One key difference between front-loading washers and top-loading washers is the amount of water they use. The newer front-loaders automatically adjust the water level to the size of the load, consuming 35 percent to 50
percent less water and using half as much energy per load.
Another key benefit of front-loading washers is that they are easier on clothes. Top-loading washers rely on the center agitator inside the tub to move the clothes around. These agitators can stretch and tangle clothes and contribute significantly to wear and tear. Front-loading washers don't use agitators. Instead, they gently cycle the clothes through the water. Even delicate clothes can be washed in front-loading washers, meaning fewer trips to dry cleaners.
Like the washers, front-loading dryers also offer substantial benefits. They have multiple settings to conform to specific drying needs and help prevent overheating. The newer dryers also spin faster, reducing the time it takes to dry the clothes. The reduced drying time can save as much as 30 percent on the energy bill from the dryer.
The benefits and style of these new washers and dryers still may not make doing laundry fun, but they can make the chore easier. These new appliances have vastly increased capacities, with some holding up to 22 bath towels at one time.

7 Easy Tips When Using Your Washing Machine
Whether you like it or not, high oil prices are affecting all Americans now. As a spillover effect, electricity tariffs are rising through the roof nowadays and a lot of household are finding it hard to cope.
And let's face it, getting a little more value out from using your washing machine helps. Here are 7 easy tips for you when it comes to a more efficient usage of your washer. Hope you find it useful.
Tip 1 - Wash your laundry once a week.
Saving up your laundry until end of the week or till you got a full load is a good way to manage your washing machine resources. Although you use less energy and water when you have lesser load, the savings you can gained is not as much compared to maximizing the full load of the washing machine.
Tip 2 - Pre-soak dirty clothes first
Soaking your clothes is a good practice to reduce the need for heavier dosage of detergents. This allows a cleaner washing and helps to save costs further.
Tip 3 - Lower washing machine temperature
Washing machine uses heat and the higher the heat generated, the more electricity it consumes. A temperature ranging from 40°C to 42°C is suitable for most of our clothings. Unless you have very dirty clothes, you will unlikely need to turn up higher spin and temperature for your washer.
Tip 4 - Re-cycle water
Besides electricity, the next resource that a washing machine consumes a lot is water. You can re- use water from the outflow of the washing machine for other purposes if you want to.
Tip 5 - Maintain washing machine in good order
A washing machine can last for easily ten years if you take good care of it. And if you want your washer to work to its maximum, you need to take good care of it. Do not overload the washer.
Tip 6 - Follow the manual
All the washing machines come with a manual from the manufacturer stating the water as well as detergent use. Always adhere to the recommended usage level from the manufacturer and you will not go wrong.
Tip 7 - Dry clothes naturally
Do you use a washer cum dryer combo? On average, such a washing machine consumes more energy and it also took longer to wash the clothes. If possible, try to dry your clothing using the natural wind or air.

Stop Laundering Your Energy Money
Laundry may be the one daily chore nobody wants to think much about. However, two of the larger energy consuming appliances in your home are in the laundry room. The clothes washer uses both energy and water, especially if you wash in hot water. The clothes dryer is a large heater blowing hot air through your wet clothes. The water heater accounts for 13% of the average US home's annual utility bill. Of that up to 26% can be due to washing clothes. Therefore, about 3.4% of your utility bill is for heating the water to wash your clothes. Read the following tips to stop wasting money from your clothes washer and dryer.
Wash in the lowest needed temperature and rinse in cold water. Most of the energy used for the clothes washer is consumed at the water heater, about 80 to 90%. Top load washers have tubs which can use 45 to 60 gallons of water per load. Front end washers use only about 17-26 gallons. If hot water is selected on the washer, then most of the above water comes from your water heater. Using the lowest water temperature is the best action to reduce energy consumption of your clothes washer.
Fill tub completely. If this is not possible, then adjust water level to the load. Waiting until there is enough dirty clothes for a full load will minimize the time the washer is used. However, overloading the washer may prevent sufficient cleaning of all the clothes. In the few cases some clothes must be washed, adjust the water level.
Use gentle cycle when possible. The washer also has an electric motor to spin the tub (drum) and agitator. Less energy is needed for a gentle agitation. Energy Star qualified front end washers do not have an agitator.
When buying a new washer, consider front end washers that are Energy Star qualified. Front end washers use less water and energy than top load washers. Energy Star qualified washers use over 40% less energy and water. Even if a washer is Energy Star qualified, energy use can vary between models and manufacturers. Always compare the yellow EnergyGuide tag posted on the appliance.
Dry your clothes outside on a clothesline. The clothes dryer has an electric or gas heater to dry the clothes. These heaters can be quite large, requiring a 240 volt connection in the US for electric heaters. Most of the energy used by the dryer goes into the heater. There is a fan to pull air through the drying clothes and out through a vent; and a motor turns the drum. The energy used by the clothes dryer is similar between models and manufacturers. Since there is little that can be done to reduce energy, they are not required to display EnergyGuide tags and are not included in Energy Star requirements. To save energy runtime must be reduced. The greatest reduction in runtime comes from drying clothes outside; let the sun do the work. Some homeowner associations do not allow or restrict the use of clotheslines.
Clean lint filter after every load. Lint in the filter slows the airflow and results in longer time to dry clothes. Make sure entire vent to the outside is clear of lint.
Using spin dry features of the washer saves drying time. Spinning your clothes in the washer pulls water from your clothes by means of centrifugal force. This uses less energy than the heater in your dryer. Energy star qualified washers spin clothes two to three times faster. More water is extracted which reduces dryer run time.
Do not over dry clothes. This runs your dryer longer than needed, wasting energy. When buying a new dryer, consider one with a moisture sensor.
Do not forget other devices that use energy. The use of the clothes iron is declining in our fast pace permanent press world but they do use energy when used. Irons can pull 1000 to 1800 watts. Use irons only when needed and make sure you do not leave it on. A sink may be used to aid in stain removal. Any use of hot water will use energy at the water heater.
To summarize, the major factor in energy use of clothes washers is water temperature. Try using warm water instead of hot water. Use cold water for colors and delicates. Rinsing can be with cold water. There is no advantage to rinse with warm or hot water. There is little control over the heat used by the clothes dryer; simply, do not run the dryer when it is not needed. These efforts will stop wasting energy when you do laundry.

How to Safely Wash Stuffed Animals
Stuffed animals are one of children's most favorite toys. These fun animals are great to have around, and sometimes go everywhere with your youngster. Since these animals are around for almost every event, even they get dirty and will need an occasional bath.
So how do you keep stuffed animals clean? Well here are some tips to keep them clean and in great shape:
First and most importantly read the care instructions that come with the stuffed animal on their label. Also take note of all materials the stuffed animal is made with.
Retailers of stuffed animals never personally recommend washing stuffed animals in the washer or dryer. What is highly recommended is to spray on a mild all-purpose cleanser or simply use soap and sponge it clean with a little water. Then leave your stuffed animal in the sun to dry.
However, many parents really feel like they need to wash stuffed animals in a washing machine to make them completely clean. So here are more tips if you desire to do so:
First, make sure none of your stuffed animals have the following before putting it in the washing machine:
* If a stuffed animal has excelsior, styrene foam, or any other form of foam material, such as foam beads, they must not be washed in the machine.
* If a stuffed animal has joints, or cardboard or any other form of stiffeners, do not put into a machine or they can be destroyed.
* If a stuffed animal has a sound box, please do not put this into a machine or any other form of major water.
* If a stuffed animal is really large, very firm, or has a lot of stuffing please remove the stuffing by cutting a 5-6 inch area in the bottom of the animal. This is important because the stuffing will most likely shift and cause the animal to lose its shape. Plus washing this much stuffing will take a very, very long time to dry. After cleaning, sew up the area and make sure no stuffing will fall out.
After reading the above and your stuffed animal does not fit into the first three categories, you may wash your animal in a washing machine. Before putting a stuffed animal into a washing machine, please make sure there are no loose items, such as button noses or eyes. Please also check to make sure that there are no openings where stuffing can come out, if so please sew up these areas securely first.
Before putting the stuffed animal into a washing machine, find a big enough pillow (or a sheet for big stuffed animals) and fasten all ends with rubber bands, safety pins or string. Please make sure all ends are secure to protect the fur of the stuffed animal. Plus it will keep any loose stuffing inside the pillow or sheet in case any falls out and can be re-installed.
After placing the stuffed animal into the washing machine, please only set the most delicate cycle to be washed. Fabric softener can be added and will make a softer and fluffier stuffed animal. Please be careful when washing other items with the stuffed animal, that there are no items that may bleed onto the stuffed animal making it a different color in the end. Also, if your stuffed animal is wearing clothes, please remove them and wash separately. This is important because the color of the stuffed animal's fur can sometimes bleed onto the clothes they are wearing.
Tips on How to Clean Stuffed Animals without Using a Washing Machine:
* A great way to keep those precious stuffed animals fresh is to give it a dry bath with baking soda. Just sprinkle the baking soda on the stuffed animal. After 20 minutes simply brush the baking soda off. You may also use baby powder. This process will get smells out and clean off any surface dirt.
* For stuffed animals that have been badly stained or soiled, use a soft scrub brush with an all purpose cleaner.
* For stuffed animals with plastic parts that have spots or stains, you can use rubbing alcohol to remove them.
* For stuffed animals that have dust mites you can do the following:
Place your stuffed animal in a plastic bag. Then place it in a freezer overnight. If you have a big stuffed animal or do not have room in the freezer, you can wait to place it outside on a very cold night. The temperature has to be below freezing. The next day, remove the stuffed animal and vacuum gently but thoroughly.
Tips on How to Dry a Stuffed Animal:
When you have washed your stuffed animal or somehow the stuffed animal has become very wet, please never use a clothes dryer. This can damage the fur of the animal and can sometimes never be repaired. Please don't risk loosing your child's favorite animal, instead do the following:
The safest way is to let the stuffed animal air dry. This could take up to several days. However, sometimes you need that stuffed animal dry as soon as possible. So you can use a hair dryer, but be careful to not get too close to the animal's fur and dry on the coolest setting available.
When a small amount liquid has spilled on a stuffed animal simply shake off loose liquid. Then pat dry with a towel or sponge.
With the care provided above, your clean stuffed animals will provide you and your child many years of fun and happiness. Good luck!

Stop Wasting Money On Dryer Sheets
Never buy dryer sheets or fabric softener again. These laundry products are not only costly, but they are incredibly harmful to your health as well. You would be surprised at some of the chemicals that are in these products as well as the warnings to go with them. Although they may make your clothes feel soft and smell fresh, dryer sheets are one of the most toxic products in your home. They are filled with so many chemicals that they have to be scented with an incredible amount of fragrance. If the sweet smelling fragrance was removed, there would only be a noxious chemical smell remaining. Some of the chemicals that are contained in dryer sheets are Benzyl acetate(linked to pancreatic cancer), Benzyl Alcohol(respiratory irritant), Ethanol(linked to central nervous system disorders), Limonene(carcinogen), A-Terpineol(respiratory irritant and damaging to central nervous system), Ethyl Acetate(narcotic), Camphor(central nervous system damage), Chloroform(neurotoxin, anesthetic), Linalool(central nervous system damage), and Pentane(respiratory irritant). Some of the symptoms experienced from prolonged exposure to the chemicals in dryer sheets include: headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, central nervous system disorders, blood pressure reduction, tiredness that is not cured by resting, difficulty breathing, skin irritation, difficulty concentrating and remembering, and cancer.
People with allergies are especially susceptible to the dangers of dryer sheets and fabric softeners. These people can break out in rashes and experience itching if they are exposed to the chemicals in dryer sheets in any capacity. I'm no expert, but if it causes trauma to a sensitive person , on contact, then it can't be all that good for the rest of us. Babies are also easily harmed by dryer sheets. It is recommended that baby clothes do not get washed with fabric softeners or dryer sheets as it can be harmful or even fatal for developing babies. There a number of cases of SIDS associated with the use of fabric softeners and dryer sheets. You are also contributing to pollution and ozone depletion whenever you pop a dryer sheet in your dryer. Various toxic chemicals are being emitted into the air through you dryer vent.
Dryer sheets leave an oil coating on your clothes, which don't really leave them softer or fluffy. This oil builds up on the fibers and takes the absorbency out (oil repels water). They are designed to slowly release their chemicals, in the attempt to "keep them fresh" all day. In reality, they are causing you to experience prolonged exposure to toxic chemicals. In the dryer, fabric softener leaves a sticky residue on all the components like the moisture sensors and drum of the dryer. This residue is very flammable, which is why on the back of some fabric softeners it tells you not to use on towels, terrycloth or fleece. The number one cause of house fires is the dryer. Fabric softeners even take the fire retardant out of baby's clothes.
So...Stop Buying Dryer Sheets and try Dryer Magic Dryer Balls. These dryer balls are completely non-toxic and chemical free. Washing Airer Dryer - Simple Step to Reducing your Carbon Footprint
Today we are all constantly reminded of the threat of global warming. Pictures of melting ice caps and early flowering with the seasons arriving up to one month early. There's reported difficulties for birds because the fish stocks have not arrived at their annual feeding time.
We are asked to make a contribution to offset the effect of our carbon footprint from cutting car journeys or holiday flights through tree planting or simply turning down the thermostat.
One of the simplest ways to contribute is by installing and using a laundry airer. By choosing to dry your clothes using natural air drying, you choose not to use your tumble dryer.
Tumble dryers use large amounts of electricity, production of which can consume large quantities of fossil fuels.
Tumble dryers even sensor models can not tell when individual items are dry – only the whole load so the overall cost is even higher as well as your carbon footprint.
Becoming carbon neutral in our activities should be everyone's goal and the clothes airer is an easy way to make your daily contribution including switching off appliances and turning down your thermostat.
Airers come in many versions so that you can use them in various locations.
In the bath as a floor standing airer or above the bath as a retractable washing line giving up to 69 feet of line space. By choosing a wall mounted airer, which expands, concertina style for use and retracts fully hidden from view when not in use.
By using floor, wall and washing line airers together you could fully replace the tumble dryer. Or by utilising wall space to mount several wall mounted airers you could achieve a similar capacity.
Especially where existing heating radiators are used to heat the house you can achieve a permanent natural airer dryer system using secondary heat and no direct energy.
If every householder or flat dweller installed energy free airers just how much carbon offset we could achieve together by taking some simple steps to nurture our planet.

Lg Electronics - Number One Provider Of Washers And Dryers
The data from the Stevenson Company, a firm doing market researches showed that the number one status on this year's first quarter had reached 23.2 percent of the market, 1.8% higher than that of the last year.
Following the 23.2% of LG were 22% of Whirlpool, 15% of Kenmore and 11.4% of Maytag. This was according to the research of a firm based in Louisville.
According to the spokesperson of LG Electronic, LG Electronics stays on the top of the market of front-load washer in the US and this has been noted since 2007 first quarter.
Furthermore, LG spokesperson said that LG will continue to supply more washers to USA's largest retailers like HomeDepot, Sears and Bestbuy because the company believes that that the marketing efforts their group has been doing has been very effective in terms of energy savings, capacity as well as greater convenience.
Aside from that, LG will promote their 16.9 sq.in door washer that boasts of its 4.5 cubic foot capacity, their biggest washer so far and this will have an appeal to more than second half of the consumers in the US market.
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers stated that the brighter segment for the home laundry these days is represented by front-load washers and these washers now cover more than 35% of the all the washers used in home and residences as well as the dryers shipped to other places.
The official of LG Electronics stated that they prioritize the image as well as the functions and within the coming years, the company hopes to fuel more on the image of their products to maintain the momentum the company is having right now.
However, when it comes to the market of refrigerators, LG Electronics has had troubles because Whirlpool has already asserted that the makers of refrigerators in South Korea has infringed the patents for the quality, performance as well as the structure on the ice dispenser ad food storage features as well.
Accordingly, when a person looks for a washing machine to buy, it is because he needs something to help him with his washing that is why LG Electronics came up with the decision to test their laundry range with bed linen.

Save Time, Water and Energy With Stackable Washer Dryers
The main points to consider when you think about buying a washer-dryer, is how much space you have for the washer, how much laundry you will be putting into it and which functions are most suitable for you. Naturally, you want the best washing machine that money can buy.
Stackable Washer Dryers
These types of washer dryers take minimal space and they are as good as the regular full-sized washers like the Maytag stackable washer dryers.
Some options for Stackable washer dryers are:
A laundry center with controls at the eye level for the dryer mounted on top and a front/top load washer at the bottom. This needs to be vented like the normal dryers and requires a 240-volt power supply. A stackable washer and separately bought dryer, though not all models are stackable. Only washers that have flat, smooth tops can be mounted with a dryer, which means the washer can only be front-load with controls in the front. The main advantage here is that you can have more features in both units.
Among the best washing machines is the ultimate laundry pair the Maytag stackable washer dryer. This comes with a full-size high-efficiency washer and full-size dryer and fits in the space of just a washer. It is the best washing machine where there is limited space. The Maytag stackable washer/dryer has many other saving options. There is no agitator in the washer, which means an amazing 32% greater usable capacity compared to average top-load regular washers resulting in less amount of water used, lower sewer costs and lower energy bills. The dryer is also faster and more efficient because the water is extracted at 800 rpm/200 Gs in the spin cycle.
Washer-dryer combinations are also a good option as they use the same tub to wash and dry clothes. The dirty laundry is loaded, the selections made and at the end of the drying cycle, the clean dry items removed. A standard 120-volt electrical supply is used and no venting is required.
So to summarize here are the most important washer-dryer features to remember when shopping for the best washing machine for your needs:
Front-loading washers are better than the top-load washers. They save detergent, water and electricity. Quick water removal cuts drying time like in the Maytag stackable washer dryer. Pay extra for a moisture-sensor in the dryer. It shuts off the machine automatically when the clothes are dry. Gas dryers are preferable to electric dryers. They are more economic to run and dry more quickly.

Freestanding Bosch Washing Machines
Bosch washing machines are available with 4.5kg, 6kg, 7kg, 8kg and 10kg load capacities so there should be a model available no matter what wash load is required- from single households to large families.
Bosch also manufactures combined washer dryers and separate tumble dryers. The washing machines and the washer dryers are available as freestanding or built in appliances and the tumble dryers are available only as freestanding.
As with most of Bosch’s appliances, Bosch washing machines come in three ranges: Classixx, Exxcel and Logixx. The Classixx range is the most basic that Bosch has to offer, but still practical. The Exxcel selection has mid-range specification and the Logixx models are top of the range high specification Bosch washing machines.
Despite the Classixx models in the Bosch selection being the most basic, they are still rated A+ for energy efficiency which is good news with the current rise in fuel prices threatening to raise our energy bills and our wallets.
When comparing the best model within each of the Bosch washing machine ranges, it is easy to see that the Logixx range has far more features and programmes than the Classixx range, although the extra features do come with a heftier price tag. Some of the models within the Logixx range have a maximum spin speed of 1600rpm, which is good knowing British summers as we do and means that if it rains, it should not take long to dry off inside after a spin.
The Logixx washing machines also have an 8kg capacity as standard, which is great for large families. Some of the Logixx Bosch washing machines have a 10kg wash load capacity and include an anti-crease function to make ironing less of a chore. And everything can be washed at once with the mixed load programme, taking the inconvenience out of sorting washing into separate piles. The Logixx models are the only Bosch washing machines that include the SoftSurge drum system that is designed to give better cleaning results, as well as greater protection for washing.
All of Bosch’s washing machines have a cold- fill function, which saves energy by heating only as much water as it needs to do the job. This particular feature is also available with Performance Enhance, which is designed to assist with the removal of stains. They also have a very quiet noise level, so you can still watch the television in the next room without being disturbed.
There are 15 ‘clothes care’ programmes on all of Bosch’s washing machines, but there are also some special features including some programmes specifically designed for people with sensitive skin and allergy sufferers such as the sensitive programme and the Aqua Plus programme. The sensitive programme reduces the exposure to allergens that irritate sensitive skin and the Aqua Plus option gives clothes extra rinses during a normal wash and rinse cycle. This option does use a higher water level though, so be aware of using this one too often if you are watching your carbon footprint!
Bosch Washing Machines
Bosch also manufactures combined washer dryers and separate tumble dryers. The washing machines and the washer dryers are available as freestanding or built in appliances and the tumble dryers are available only as freestanding.
As with most of Bosch’s appliances, Bosch washing machines come in three ranges: Classixx, Exxcel and Logixx. The Classixx range is the most basic that Bosch has to offer, but still practical. The Exxcel selection has mid-range specification and the Logixx models are top of the range high specification Bosch washing machines.

Bosch Washing Machines
Washing Machines and Laundry - a General Overview
You can buy a standard washing machine quite inexpensively these days. Washing machines have been around for a long time now and unless you are getting an appliance with a particularly large drum size or with up to the minute technological features, you can get some really good deals if you are on a budget. The lowest priced washing machine that we have on offer at Internet Kitchen Appliances is the Beko WMA 520W at £239.00 and the most expensive is the Maytag free standing washing machine MAF2002AES at £1,178.00. Of course, there are plenty of washing machines that come in between these two and have varying features. But generally, this shows that whether you are after a washing machine on a budget or want an appliance with all the trimmings, there is something for everyone.
There are three basic types of laundry appliance- washing machines, tumble dryers and combined washer dryers. The latter can be an excellent option if you need to save space. The tumble drying capacity in a washer dryer is usually less than the actual washing capacity, but most models these days allow for 6kg of washing or 4kg of drying at a time.
If you have plenty of space in your kitchen though, or even a separate utility room, you will probably decide to purchase a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. This generally allows for larger capacities, which is great for larger families. But not only that, having separate appliances means that you can wash and dry at the same time, so whilst one load is in the tumble dryer, you can get the next load into the washing machine, taking you less time and keeping your washing routine running smoothly.
One great feature to look out for is the automatic timer, which means that you can set exactly when you want the washing machine to turn on. This means that you can take advantage of the lower electricity rate overnight by setting your load to come on a couple of hours before you wake up. If you do plan to do this though, make sure that your machine has also got a 'quiet' or 'very quiet' rating for noise levels so that it doesn't wake you up any earlier than you need to be.
Laundry appliances are generally available as free standing appliances or integrated appliances. More and more people are beginning to opt for integrated appliances whether it be refrigeration, ventilation or laundry appliances. One way of hiding your laundry appliances is to have a separate utility room, but if this is not an option and you would prefer to keep your washer and dryer out of sight and out of mind, then an integrated appliance is probably the best option for you. A panel is usually placed over integrated appliances which is designed to match your existing cupboard doors so that you would hardly even realise that it were there.
If you do not mind your appliances being on display then Internet Kitchen Appliances has over three hundred free standing laundry appliances, of which most are in the price range of between £300 and £600. This is probably a good price to be looking at for a laundry appliance as for this kind of money, you are likely to get a mid- range appliance with a decent drum capacity, a good energy efficiency rating and it should not be too expensive to repair should anything ever go wrong.
Obviously, like most things, you get what you pay for. If you get a cheaper appliance that you are going to be using all the time, the likelihood is that it is going to need repairing more often than a more expensive appliance. However, a more expensive appliance will probably cost more to repair if it ever does need to be repaired than a cheaper appliance. So it is really a case of balancing initial cost, features and how much it will cost to maintain.

Neff Washing Machine- What to Consider When Buying a New Model
Firstly, you need to figure out what kind of washing machine you are looking for. Do you want a standalone washing machine or a combined washer dryer? The answer to that usually lies in how much space you have available to allocate as your laundry area. The Neff washing machine is available as a dedicated washer and is energy efficient and performs well. But it is also available as a washer dryer and saves you space, but means that if you are drying, you can not be washing and vice versa. So if you have a large family with lots of laundry, a standalone washing machine may be the best option for you.
Next, you will need to look at how varied your laundry is. For example, do you own a lot of silk that you do not want to get ruined in the wash? Do you have a lot of mixed fabrics, wools, cottons and bright colours? If this is the case then you need to choose your new washing machine very carefully. All Neff washing machines have a wide selection of programmes so that you can ensure that your clothes stay looking as new as possible.
For washing, Neff provide you with a multi fabric and multi colour wash, rinse and spin only, spin only, hand wash, wool and delicates, pre wash multi programme, variable spin speeds, reduced time option and intensive wash. And for drying, Neff gives you the option of sensor drying for cottons and easycare, low heat drying, smoothing to remove all those creases and save you a job and fluffing for your jumpers and knitwear as well as a reverse tumble action. So you can choose the option that you need and your clothes will not get ruined.
Now that you have decided whether you want a standalone washer or a combined washer dryer, and you have decided what programmes you will need depending on how varied your laundry is, you now need to think about whether you want any extra functions on your new washing machine to make your life a little bit easier. Neff washing machines offer several innovative, time saving and often disaster averting features.
The Neff washing machines that feature the Out of Balance system will automatically try to rebalance an unbalanced load. If it cannot balance the load, it will either reduce the spin or cut the spin out altogether to stop your clothes from getting damaged. You can also programme your Neff washing machine up to 24 hours in advance so you can set it to come on overnight if you are on a two tier electricity scheme and take advantage of the off peak rates. Some, but not all, of the Neff washing machines come with a symbol that lets you know when you are using too much washing powder so that you can make your laundry more eco friendly.
The most important thing to consider when choosing your new laundry appliance is to feel confident that you know your options and that the washing machine you go for has everything that you need to feel comfortable with your choice. You need to feel that you can leave it to get on with its job of washing your clothes, leaving you free from worry and with time to get on with other things.

Clothes Dryer - the Zero Energy Option
One of the most significant, almost hidden, costs of living to a human being involves the clothes we wear and all the cloth based items we use on a daily basis.
Grouped under the heading of “Clothes Drying” it is something we rarely see in a household budget because it is normally lost in some sort of energy cost. Even then we simply make no allowance for the area we live in, air pollution, weather, especially the winter months. except perhaps for heating and lighting bills.
Clothes dryers are mainly thought of as electric tumble dryers, which are essentially a 2/3 kw heater, switched on to maximum for hours on end. Surveys speak of an average; per tumble dryer, of 460Kw hours per year. Multiplied by a town of 10,000 homes in simple terms it is 4,600.000 Kw/hours per town or a city of 100,000 it would be 46,000.000Kw/hours per city.
How can we save a significant portion of that? By simply using natural or secondary drying methods. The old fashioned washing lines used by our grandparents did the trick but only in fair weather. With approaching winter shirts frozen on the lines was a familiar sight.
Today the old washing line still exists but mostly in a PVC coated rope but also in the indoor multiway retractable washing line which in its five line version expands up to 4 metres and gives almost 70 feet of useable washing line. Installed over the bath, in a conservatory, utility room or even between garage walls this superb device provides an additional drying space 24/7 at no ongoing cost.
In fact the range of natural drying racks also gives the same energy free drying facility. Drying racks provide a drying centre in the home where all family members can hang their clothes to dry instead of putting them on radiators all over the home.
Drying racks, clothes airers – free standing or wall mounted – expand to be filled and retract or foldaway to save space until required again.
Using no energy in the natural drying cycle or secondary heat from under floor heaters or wall radiators or simply the combined radiated warmth of the home and its occupants, clothes drying racks do their job without fuss, without tears and they are the zero energy option.

Save Money On Washing Machines And Dryers
Many people seem to be searching for more energy efficient washing machines and dryers recently. This is no doubt due to the increasing energy bills that people are receiving. With the bills steadily rising, people are forced to find new and different ways of reducing their energy bills. One of the methods that people have found very good at helping to reduce their bills is if they use energy efficient kitchen appliances. At a time when everyone is trying to cutback on their expenses during these financially stressful times, opting for energy efficient tumble dryers and washing machines is one of the best ways of cutting down on costs. In an attempt to meet the demand from customers who want energy efficient units, the market is now full of too many brands and too many models of tumble dryers and washer dryers. This may seem like a good thing as customers have a wide range of machines to choose from, however, this tends to have the opposite effect and consumers become confused as each model is claiming to be the best for the job and every brand is saying that it’s the best brand and the one to trust. For the many companies and models to try and stand out from each other, the different brands get features added to them and the cost then varies greatly from model to model. There is a solution for confused customers however and that is to compare the features as well as the costs of the items via an online comparison site. This is due to the fact that, although the cost is very important, especially in times of financial difficulty, the machine needs to work efficiently and have all the features you need, otherwise, you could be heading out sooner than you think for another machine and therefore spend well over what you wanted to. In order to get the most out of comparison shopping the customer must remember to take into account the features as well as the price of the unit. For those who are looking for certain kitchen appliances, comparing a few is essential in order to ensure that you are getting the product that does everything you want it to do.
People are starting to use energy efficient kitchen appliances in order to save money. Opting for the energy efficient tumble dryers and washing machines is a great way to save some money. If you are looking for certain kitchen appliances it is worth comparing a few to ensure that you are getting the product you want.

Saving Energy When Using Your Tumble Dryer
Energy-class labels on tumble dryers are there to help you choose a more energy-efficient model thus saving money on your electricity bill, and being more eco-friendly. The classes go from A (the highest rating) to G (the lowest rating) with A being obviously the most energy efficient domestic appliances.
Generally, tumble dryers use a lot of energy to dry clothes, so most models are usually at least C-rated.
One thing to be aware of is that, in past investigations, it was found that the labels do not always correspond with how much electricity a machine uses to dry a load.
Also, the energy class of a tumble dryer depends on which program the manufacturer selects for the test, which can vary a lot from one program to another. So, for example, a White Knight tumble dryer has been A-rated, but only because the White Knight people decided to test the tumble dryer on a special low-energy program, which can take up to an amazingly long seven hours to dry a load.
As said previously, most tumble dryers have a C-class energy rating. But, even so, the energy they use varies by around a third. And, with a million tumble dryers sold in the UK every year, that will adds up. A washing line is far more energy efficient.
Imagine that everyone who buys a tumble dryer next year buys the most efficient, rather than the least efficient one – they' would save enough energy to power hundreds of households for a year each time they all dried a full load of cottons.
Here are some tips to help you save energy and money when using your tumble dryer.
First of all, try to fit the maximum load of clothes in your tumble dryer every time you use it. Secondly, use a high spin speed on your washing machine to get your washing as dry as you possibly can. Then, clean the lint filter every time you use the machine or at least on a regular basis. A blocked filter prevents the hot air from circulating freely, so clothes take longer to dry and it costs you more! Finally, you should make sure that the room the dryer is in is well ventilated. A well ventilated room will stop the tumble dryer from overheating. If it overheats, it takes longer to finish drying a load.
Another simple tip would be to buy tumble dryer spare parts when your tumble dryer gets old. It will be much more energy efficient if you replace the parts that are too old.

Washing Line - Why the Scottish Love Them
The canny Scot is an international image, which has been carried to all corners of the globe by Scots emigrants who left their nature land for foreign shores, adventure and to seek their fortune.
Doing the washing has never been a favourite chore and the history books give little mention as to the habits of William Wallace or Robert the Bruce except they seemed famed for fighting battles. In fact nothing in our Scottish history books refers to the washing lines that came to be a feature of every back garden throughout the land.
These accompanied by the wooden folding clothes horses combined to provide a fall back eco friendly natural drying system in times of wet or stormy weather or during a dull grey winter where any damp clothes hung on the line soon froze into a fixed display of frozen scarecrows clothes.
In a world of costly energy where every Scots household is fully aware of the monthly bills the drying costs are under close examination "How on earth did we run up a bill so high?" is a regular question and often the culprit turns out to be the tumble dryer. When invented it seemed to be the answer to everyone's needs. An instant solution to drying the laundry.
However a solution often brings with it a new set of problems, such as last item drying – the sensor tumble dryer will only shut down when the last item is dry so items that have already dried during the cycle will simply be dried over and over again. Fluff collection – fluff is really the loose fibres of a garment. The violent action of the tumble dryer throws the clothes around damaging the fibres and reducing the life of each garment.
Hanging clothes on a natural drying washing line or clotheshorses of various kinds does not have any of these problems. Clothes dry at their own pace each item may be removed from the clothes drying rack when dry without waiting for the whole load to dry. Of course drying racks do not attack or bash the laundry but simply provide a rack for it to lie on or hang from to allow the natural drying cycle to take place.
I can hardly fail to admire the old Scots housewife with her natural drying system of washing lines and clothes horses, and wonder at how things go in cycles taking us back to the natural way. Maybe if we all grow to love this natural way we can all make a difference.

For Washing Machine And Dryer Selection, Choose American
We have to be more diverse in making our investments if we have learned anything from watching stock market and bigger economy for the past years. Making a purchase is similar to making an investment, no one know that it might do all of us some good to be more diverse in consumer purchases.
In the past, I have spoken about supporting privately owned companies of America that make the things in the United States as different to the publicly owned companies of America. Companies that are smaller often do not have the corporate horsepower to get in a big store where they could easily gain brand recognition. Just because Target and Wal-mart do not carry certain products on their shelves, it does not mean that there are not other quality products that are available out there.
One alternative that shouldn't be ignored is the Staber washer. This company has been operating since 1976 when the company started manufacturing equipment for laundry from companies such as Maytag, GE, and Whirlpool. I am certain that you have seen the latest front load washing machine's tumble action from these manufacturers or others, but this company has the difference of having the top load washing machine on the market. The company's products have been manufactured since 1993 in Groveport, Ohio.
However, the company's dryers contain some parts that are imported that is why it can not be labeled as "Made in USA" but you might want to take a look at the exclusive Staber Drying Cabinet which is actually made in the United States. A cabinet that works like a clothesline and is normally utilized by Scandinavian countries, use to dry newly washed clothes.
And because this product uses 1,500 watts if heating element against a 4,000 watt heating element for the standard dryers, you will consume less energy. Drying cabinets are made to last long as expected because there's no wear and tear for the drying cabinets the same as there are for normal tumble dryers.

Washing Lines - My Indoor Eco System
The picture of a back garden laced with lines with stretcher poles and the daily wash blowing in the breeze is a typical scene from the forties and fifties.
Today we have TV programmes dedicated to lifestyle, which includes the redesign of the back garden to be a place of leisure. Ponds and paving, arbours and flower arranging seem to be the main themes. Complete with a patio, swing seat, table and chairs and even a Co2 producing heater – the leisure garden is the new must have.
In all the articles and reports made for television programmes not one provides a possibility for washing poles and washing lines. In many washing powder advertisements they feature strongly but not so in real life.
My solution is to fit multiway washing lines that are ideal in a bathroom or in the kitchen. Anywhere with two opposite walls where the main housing can be fitted and the special hooks to catch and hold the carrier installed on the opposite wall.
They can be installed outside being permanently available for use on sunny days and with their four washing lines they provide up to 4 metres (69 ft) of washing line space for the daily wash.
For many years the idea of washing lines went out of fashion replaced by the tumble dryer which offered an instant answer to how to dry washing on wet days. However, the tumble dryer has proven to be one of the costliest ways to dry laundry. A report estimates that each tumble dryer consumes an average of 460 Kw/hours per year - and that is just the average!
Multiway washing lines have come into their own in recent years because they are their very own little eco-system. Fully expandable and, of course, retractable they pull out to dry when needed and retract fully to allow full use of space.
Washing lines are a simple, compact solution which dries the wash without dominating the garden. Gives the choice of drying indoors or outdoors and is a flexible eco-friendly drying system for all seasons.

And they should know that they should give special precautions to keep away from exposure when the machine or appliances are operating. Although these studies are still haven't proven that electromagnetic field brings diseases and give other health problems. And the electromagnetic field that surrounds the devices reduces rapidly when you move away from the appliance. So, if your uncertain about this, just simply lessen being exposed with electric appliance while it runs.

• Owners of dryers should keep in mind that their vents and exhaust ways should be well organized. Because without this, tiny particles of lint goes into the air and these particles could cause problems in breathing for people inside the house.
• Vents and exhaust ways should be periodically checked for damages and tears for repairs. And metal ducts are better that ribbed plastic hose, because it can be bent easily and produce lint into the air.
• Lint buildup is the most cause of fires in North America every year of about 4,000 fires. Which could be prevented by cleaning the filter in every use and unplugging appliances at least twice a year
• Don't put materials like foam, rubber and plastic materials inside the dryer because it could melt and catch fire. Including Oil soaks fabrics, this could also catch fire.

5 Important Things To Know When Purchasing A Washing Machine
If you are looking for a washing machine, you may want to consider washing machine types such as top-loaders. Top-loaders which cost around $350 and more are user-friendly since users do not need to bend over when using them. As an alternative, why not also consider purchasing front-loaders which cost around $600 and more?
The great thing about this type is that 65% of energy will be saved and around 30% of water will be conserved because the basins that come with it do not need to be filled with water. However, keep in mind that the newly-released top-loaders which cost around $900 oppose the front-loaders which are energy efficient. It is important to look for the following factors:
Tip 1 # A washing machine that does not heat all the water contained in the machine.
Often times, people buying washing machines often do not care about whether the washing machine they are buying heats only the water it needs. This statement was said by Standards of Excellence manager John O' Meara. He stated further that nowadays, this feature has been very common in many washing machines. Most washing machines now has the feature of saving and conserving energy by heating not the entire water contained in the tank but only the water needed for the washing. Generally, the newly-released washing machines are much more efficient that the washing machines released in the past. This comment was made by Jill Notini from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers located in Washington D.C.
Tip 2 # A fast spin cycle.
If the spin cycle of a washing machine is fast, the faster it is to dry the clothes because more water is extracted from the spinner. According to www.applianceadvisor.com Alex Cheimets, it is very important that you look for a washing machine with a higher rpm or rotations per minute because it adds the energy that is being saved. A washing machine with 900 rpm is good and if you are looking for a machine that will help you save and conserve more energy, get a good pair of dryer and washing machine that comes with the moisture sensor. This shuts down the unit after detecting that the clothes are already dry.
Tip 3 # A machine that uses minimal amount of water.
According to Whirlpool spokesperson, Audrey Reed-Granger, the washing machines released in the past used 40 gallons of water for each cycle. If you would look at that for a year, you will arrive at over 14,000 gallon. It would be better to look for a washing machine that requires less than 14 gallons of water cycle consumption.
Tip 4 # Pedestals
Pedestals that cost around $100 up to $200 may now be installed in some washers and dryers. These pedestals are placed under the washing machine or dryer may be raised by one foot to make loading and unloading easier. There are also washers and dryers that already come with drawers used to stash bleach, stain-removal sticks and detergent.
Tip 5 # Extra rinse cycle
This is an additional option that you may opt to get. An extra rinse cycle allows the washing machine to dispense extra water while washing of clothes is ongoing. It a good way to remove stains and excessive detergent that may lead allergic people to sufferer especially babies however; the negative thing is that you may have to pay higher water bill.
A Piece of Advice:
Audrey Reed-Granger of Whirlpool noted that using spin cycle of a washing machine with a 1000 rpm shock-absorber free floor will make the floor shake but there is nothing to worry about this when used in a ground floor and basement because these machines are often reinforced.

How to Buy a Washer and Dryer
Take Measurements
How large a set can you accommodate? Front load washer and dryers tend to be larger than conventional ones so make sure you take accurate measurements (height, depth, and width) to ensure the ones you want fit.
Compare Brands
Make a visit to all your local appliance stores to find out what’s available on the market and compare brands and features. Narrow down your options by choosing what appeals to you.
Consumer Reviews
Do your homework online and research consumer reviews of the brands and models that you like. Find out what those who have actually used them are saying – what they like and more importantly what they dislike about the product.
Select the Right Kind
Consider how you will be using your washer and dryer: how often will you use them and for what kinds of laundry? Is it just you and your spouse or an entire family that you have to do laundry for? Do you dry most of your clothes or do you often have heavily soiled loads? Take this all into consideration assessing different features including temperature settings, water level settings, energy efficiency, and load capacity.
Compare Shop
Once you’ve narrowed down your choices, do some comparison shopping to find the best prices (or to figure out which models are the best value). Make sure you establish your budget prior to shopping.
Purchase
Decide where to purchase based not only on price but delivery and whether or not you want them to haul off your old washer and dryer.

Choosing Laundry Washers
When you get a laundry washer, you will be getting one of the longest lasting appliances in your home. The type of laundry washer you choose will have a big influence in your energy bills. So carefully select which laundry washer you want to purchase based on how often you wash your clothes, what type of laundry you do and what your space constraints are. Consider the following tips to help you in choosing the right laundry washer for your needs.
First you want to consider a front-load versus a top-load washer. Each washer has specific features that you need to keep in mind when choosing which laundry washer works for your needs.
A front load washer allows you to stack your appliances in order to save room. A front load spins faster, which makes it easier to extract water to save you both money and energy since you can dry your clothes quicker. A front load washer is gentler on your clothing. However, front load machines require a special detergent, which cost a little more and can be a little difficult to find in stores. Front load washes also cost about thirty to forty percent more than top load machines. Although since front load washers use less water they can save you money on utility bills as well.
With a top load washer, you have a larger choice of models, colors and features since they are still the main appliance manufactured by companies. The initial costs of top load washers are cheaper, but they don't save as much in energy costs. Top load washers give you easier access and can use everyday detergent. However, a top load washer can't be stacked so they will take up more room.
You will likely choose a laundry washer based on the specific features you need. Each manufacturer has different names for these features so it is important that you do your research first. When choosing a laundry washers consider the following features.
First, you want to consider the capacity. Always use the cubic foot measurement in order to compare capacity since all "extra large" washers can be different. For those who live in apartments with limited space it may be a good idea to consider stackable units. Make sure you match the capacity of your washer to that of your dryer.
Next, consider the cycles offered by the unit. Most models include permanent press, delicate and extra soak or extra rinse cycles. You should choose a model that provides you with the cycles you need in order to properly care for your clothes.
Another thing to consider is the noise level. This is important if the unit is going to be in the living area of your home. Along with this, you also want to determine the safety of your unit. Most models come with a lock function that prevents the doors from opening while the unit is in operation.
